Day 11

I caught myself recently thanking God for His provision, because then I would not need to worry about it There is nothing like studying something is God’s word to highlight areas where we need to grow!

When did I decide that worrying was a need? And to take this even further, when did I equate worrying with being responsible?  I can actually feel guilty if I do not worry about something significant. Looking back on when I was little, I do not remember worrying over utility bills, mortgages, food, or other basic needs. I trusted my parents to provide these things. Even if we grew up in a home that was much less stable, for the most part, I don’t believe most of us were born worrying. But at some point in time, the unknown became frightening, and I decided I needed to worry about it to be responsible.

God’s solutions to this... to partner with Him! To obey what He says, to allow Him to guide our steps and our days and to not worry. It is one of the biggest lies I fell into, that worrying was helpful or responsible. Carrying deeply about something should drive us to the Father for help, but falling into worrying paralyzes us. We need to stay mobile and engaged with God, actively bringing Him our daily needs, and obeying Him. Worrying, instead of being a responsible action, gums up the process, slowing us down, making it harder to hear the Father as we rehearse our problems to ourselves, over...and ...over.

So, let's practice carrying deeply and actively engaging with the Father, but reject the place of worry as a form of responsibility!

Father, it is engaging with You that brings me peace, not worrying. As the Creator of the Universe, you know so much more than I do. It is more responsible to seek Your wisdom and direction than to worry! Forgive me for believing that worry was helpful, I choose to trust You and partner with Your plans. Thank you for the peace this brings!
